The problem

Today, a mobilisation scatters before it even marches.

A messaging group, then a channel, a petition, a shared spreadsheet, a poster shared a thousand times… With every relay the message gets distorted and nobody knows any more what is authoritative.

  1. WhatsApp group
  2. Telegram channel
  3. Online petition
  4. Shared spreadsheet
  5. Doctored poster
Who is really organising?
An anonymous account can call itself an “organiser”. Nothing tells the real demonstration from the imitation.
What exactly is being demanded?
The demand changes from one relay to the next. There is no reference text, dated and signed.
What has changed, and when?
A text silently edited on the very morning betrays those who had decided to come.

Three separate levels

The person, the movement and its supporters are never confused.

Taking part in a demonstration does not make you a member of a movement. Supporting a movement does not make an organisation its owner.

Level 1

The person

You take part as you see fit.

  • Your real name stays private, always.
  • Your participation is just a counter, unless you choose to appear.
  • You are never a “member” just by showing up.
Level 2

The movement

It has a public identity and is accountable.

  • Versioned, dated, attributed demands.
  • Organisers and spokespeople identified, with their role.
  • A charter that has been explicitly adopted.
Level 3

The supporters

The organisations linked to the movement are declared.

  • Partner, supporter, donor, funding: every link is typed.
  • Every declaration is dated and can be withdrawn.
  • The history stays visible: nothing is erased.

Four pillars

What sets ARALLIA apart from a mere calendar of demonstrations.

  1. Versioned demands

A primary demand, secondary demands, a list of what is not demanded. Every change creates a new public version with its diff.

  2. Organisational identity

Each movement presents its organisers, spokespeople and roles. An official publication is recognisable at a glance.

  3. Transparent affiliations

Trade union, party, company, association: every organisation linked to the movement is declared, with the nature of the link.

  4. Adopted charter

A base of six commitments, identical for everyone, to which each movement adds its own rules. No adopted charter, no publication.

No silent edits

Every change becomes a visible version.

Here is what a participant would see when comparing two versions of the demands of a fictional movement. Additions are underlined, deletions struck through.

  1. v1.0
  2. v1.1(minor change)
  3. v2.0(major change)
  4. v2.1(minor change)

How versions are numbered

  • Only the wording changes: the minor version goes up (2.0 → 2.1).
  • A demand is added or removed, or the primary one changes: the major version goes up (2.1 → 3.0).
  • A change made after an event has been frozen is marked as such, at the top of its page.

What we do not demand

We are not demanding free public transport.

Verify a demonstration

Doubts about a poster? Check it in ten seconds.

Every published event has a short code, a QR code and a digital fingerprint of its movement’s manifest.

  1. 1. Scan or type

The QR code is on the official sheet. So is the 6-character code.

  2. 2. Compare

ARALLIA recomputes the manifest’s fingerprint and compares it with the published one.

  3. 3. Decide with confidence

Authenticated or unknown: the result shows the movement, the version and the date of the last change.

Privacy

We know the bare minimum.

Going to a demonstration is your own act. The platform is designed so that nobody, not even us, has the means to follow you.

What we know

  • An email address, so you can log in.
  • A public name and a username, which you choose.
  • The events you announce you are joining, visible only if you decide so.

What we never do

  • Record your position: “Near me” reads your position once, then forgets it.
  • Expose your real name.
  • Compute a trust or popularity score on a person.
  • Install trackers or display advertising.
  • Resell or hand over any data.

Neutrality

One platform, no side.

ARALLIA hosts movements of every persuasion that respect the same charter. It does not choose the causes it serves.

  • The same rules for everyone

The charter base is identical for every movement, whatever its cause.

  • Moderation of behaviour

We deal with threats, impersonation and false information, not with opinions.

  • No ranking

Demonstrations are sorted by date. No movement is highlighted.

Even the interface sticks to it: paper, ink and a saffron accent. No red, no blue, no party colour.
